CLIST (c)
by
Bob Westcott
The CLIST program creates a file called FDMSG.IDX & FDMSG.DAT.
These files are required to find node addresses.
WHY do I need to do this, I already have this when I run my Mailer??
You must do this because this program runs with many mailers. There is
NO standard for layout of *IDX or *.FDX type files and different mailers
use different ones. Therefore no matter what mailer you use these files
will run FdMsg correctly.
These program should be run EVERY time you receive a new nodelist(s).
In other words every time you run FDNC or IMNC.
If you are in more than one net (who isn't in this day and age) you
can use a file called CLIST.CFG and it contains all Net nodelist info
EXCEPT for the standard FidoNet nodelist.
All nodelist names _MUST_ have an extension see example below.
All files must be in NODELIST format!!!
The CLIST.EXE & CLIST.CFG files should be in the same directory as
your fido nodelist...
You do _NOT_ have to make the file CLIST.CFG.
You MUST have one or the other. If you do not want anything but the
current nodelist, make the CLIST.CFG file and leave it blank.
CLIST will inform you which file it is using.
***If you have problems running CLIST.EXE make a blank CLIST.CFG and***
***using until you can find what file in FDNODE.CTL is causing the***
***problem..***
CLIST.EXE looks for CLIST.CFG before looking for FDNODE.CTL....
Example:
Begnet.pvt
WsNet.*
The above 2 examples shows that the Begnet.pvt is the nodelist name for
BEGNET and does not have a different number each week
The WsNet with the "*" for the extension shows the extension changes each
week. The CLIST program will use the highest extension number it finds so
beware at the end of each year...
To call the program just enter CLIST.
If you update your nodelist via a batch file then insert CLIST at
the end of the batch file.

I would like to give credit to Steve Rodgers for his help with file
indexing which has increased the speed at which this software runs.
